An hour was plenty of time to enjoy the Basin and Blossoms. It took us 15 minutes to get to the MLK side, pedaling into the breeze, but once there, it was a leisurely pedal around the Basin with the wind at our backs. The boats are clean and easy to pedal, unless, you want to get across the Tidal Basin within the hour, your legs will get tired. You can pay online and sign your waivers ahead of time, so check in at the dock is a breeze. During this busy season, make a reservation, there are a lot of time slots available. The employees were helpful and efficient, and we enjoyed pedaling around the basin, taking a breather from the crowds. Riding on the boat was a perfect way to view the blossoms, away from the crowds. We did our boat ride on Sunday, March 26, the day that literally a million visitors came to enjoy the cherry blossoms at their peak bloom, on the first clear, beautiful blue sky spring day. He was able to move my reservation up to an earlier time. When planning your best summer ever in Washington, DC, you may want to include a relaxing trip to an outdoor pool or a day-long adventure at a water park near DC. I emailed Paul and he responded within seconds. Home Where to Find Water Parks & Outdoor Pools In & Around Washington, DC Your summer isn’t complete without visiting these outdoor hotel pools, water parks and more in the DC area. After booking a specific time, I realized that I needed an earlier time. Helpful and pleasant staff.Booking this trip online was very easy. Highly recommend this hotel for families or business. The reception at this particular Embassy Suites was the best I have ever been to! Really nice food options and different each day we never waited in long lines and the food never ran out while we were there. The evenings reception was so fun for our kiddos too and again, arrive when it starts to avoid lines. We ate breakfast between 6:30-7:30 am everyday and never waited in lines. Like all things in DC, the earlier you arrive, the less people and vehicle traffic you have to navigate. Breakfast was so good (loads of options), but again, gets busy closer to 8:00 am. We swam before 6:00 pm every day and had plenty of room to swim. A few tips for families: the pool is on the smaller side and gets busy the later in the day you go. Just factor that cost into your trip and avoid the headache. (We parked in a LAZ and then free parking on the street Sunday!!) We paid for valet parking-totally worth it. Arrange for public transportation or drive yourself. The National Mall (and all that is there) is probably too far for a family to reasonably walk. Additionally, Ford Theater is a few blocks down the street. Our room was amazing!! One of my favorite Hilton rooms ever! Super clean, modern, spacious and great view of the Washington Monument (floor 15)! The location is within walking distance to the White House and White House Visitors Center. Updated hotel with lovely lobby and great rooms. …Īnother great Hilton stay!! We stayed here for our family vacation and were pleased all around with our stay. This place has the possibility to be great with location and extras but the service needs to improve. Again…just keep tripping over themselves. I asked her for some and she kept telling me the wheat AND sour dough were white bread. The lady attendant and I went round and round regarding white bread. Don’t dare ask if they have any extra chocolate muffins and white bread. The breakfast was good but the staff was mean. When I went to the front desk to inquire they told me the pool attendant was on break and he couldn’t give me towels because he couldn’t go behind the pool attendants back. Took my kids to the pool and they were out of pool towels. Called back and had to wait another 15 minutes. Then when we pulled out the sofa bed, it wasn’t made, they didn’t leave us pillows for it. I had to call twice to get some then finally walked the halls and raided a housekeeping cart. Once we got our room they only left us 3 towels, 1 hand towel and 1 wash rag. While this hotel has a great location, free breakfast and happy hour, they just can’t seem to get it right.
